Light Hill is a volunteer-driven organization. The primary purpose of the Volunteer Coordinator role is to coordinate and fill all shifts to provide 24/7 care for residents. This requires personally filling shifts or coordinating with staff to fill in volunteer gaps. The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting new volunteers, keeping volunteers engaged and enthused about their role, and assisting in the ongoing training and stewarding of volunteers.
· Coordinate and fill 240 shifts/month; two-three months scheduled simultaneously; confirm each scheduled shift accurately with volunteers
· Work closely with all other staff regarding resident needs and volunteer scheduling
· Create and maintain monthly schedules to be distributed
· Keep record of monthly volunteer service hours/use volunteer tracking & management software
· Prepares quarterly and annual summaries for inclusion in reports on agency volunteer participation
· Maintain hands-on care Volunteer Contact Information database
· Attends Board of Directors meetings and reports on volunteer participation
· Provides ongoing assessment of agency program volunteer needs
· Performs other duties assigned by the Executive Director
· Maintain “volunteer family†of hands-on care volunteers including recruiting new volunteers and reengaging existing or lapsed volunteers
· Assist in screening, onboarding and placement of potential volunteer candidates
· Ensures required volunteer applicant paperwork is completed
· Assist with and coordinate shadowing/training as needed
· Present ideas to maintain and engage through social media/website
· Manages, maintains and provides active community outreach
· Participates in public-facing events and acts as community liaison for the organization
· Schedule and facilitate refresher trainings for active or returning volunteers 2-3 annually
· Coordinate group Volunteer Training sessions for new recruits and support training facilitators; co-facilitate classes as needed
· Coordinate at least 2 volunteer appreciation events, gifts or initiatives per year
· Motivate the volunteers and create an uplifting environment
· Compose and distribute a Weekly Update to hands-on care volunteers with relevant in-house news
· Compose and distribute other important home updates as required
· Assist with planning and executing of special events, working closely with Executive Director
· Provide leadership and direction for volunteers at special events
· Coordinate general purpose volunteers as needs arise (gardening, meal prep, cleaning, hospitality, etc.)
· Experience in a referenceable administrative and customer service position
· Hands on care experience preferred (Med Tech, CNA, LPN)
· Must consent to and pass required background check
· Must uphold resident and family confidentiality
· Flexibility working in a “Stop n Go†environment
· Maintain a peaceful aura and cohesive volunteer group
· Proficient in Office 365, Google Suite, email and iPhone
· Familiarity with CRM systems preferred
· Must have strong interpersonal skills, be detail oriented, positive, personable, appreciative, non-judgmental, tenacious and flexible
· Use creativity to fill open shifts with a limited number of volunteers
· Personal warmth to comfortably interact with families and residents (high EQ - emotional quotient)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
