UB College Advisor
The college advisor serves as academic advisor to high school students enrolled in the Upward Bound program, and who attend Fremont and Castlemont High Schools in Oakland, California, with responsibility for advising them; regarding academic choices, monitoring student performance, and progress towards successful completion of high school. The college advisor will provide college and career advising to Upward Bound students including A-G class programming, SAT/ACT registration, developing Individual Learning Plans, and chaperoning college tours. Prepares quarterly reports on each student, describing counseling activities for the reporting period and providing specific details regarding student progress such as course schedule, grades, and related matters. Participates in recruitment of new students by reviewing records, interviewing students, and recommends final selections. The college advisor represents the University of San Francisco Upward Bound Project and develops effective working relationships with staff, parents, and key stakeholders within the target schools. Collaborates with school staff and community organizations to identify barriers to learning and provide solutions and support systems that will enable Upward Bound students' success.
