Job Summary:


The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator will assist the clinic and Practice Manager in coordinating and scheduling Mohs Surgeries for the Glen Allen Absolute Dermatology clinic. This position will schedule, assist in obtaining pre-certifications, and verify insurance and benefits. The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator will work with the patients and the Mohs Surgical team, to make sure that the patient is receiving excellent customer service and is fully informed about their upcoming procedure(s).


Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Schedules all Mohs surgeries and procedures per protocols set in place by the Surgeons and the Mohs Leads/Histotechnicans (indicating which scheduling slot will be used for which patient based on a case by case basis) for Glen Allen.
  • Ensure coordination of care with the patient�s referring physicians, VA, etc and maintain communicate in a timely and professional manner with the referring Physician offices
  • Ensure that the patient is informed as to what they are being scheduled for, the length of time in office, any and all pre-op instructions, etc
  • Registers patient in the EMR, if the patient has not been added
  • Communicate with patients via Klara, or phone in a timely and professional manner, in answering any questions, concerns, scheduling issues, etc.
  • Confirms that all documentation is in their file, including but not limited to: Insurance information, referrals, pictures, etc
  • Calls and verifies insurance is active and patient has an eligible plan with Absolute Dermatology
  • Has an understanding of the different levels of Mohs surgeries and what each ones� scheduling requirements are
  • Respond to all patient inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Communicates all schedule changes with the patients and or Provider
  • Adheres to Absolute Dermatology�s policies and procedures, and its code of ethics and complies with HIPAA, OSHA, and all federal and state rules and regulations.
  • Complies with Absolute Dermatology�s standard for patient care.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Physical Requirements


  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs at times

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
