Position Overview

The Student Program Assistant position provides general support to an academic program through a combination of administrative tasks, event assistance, and outreach efforts. The role involves working closely with program staff to support day-to-day operations and help promote departmental activities and initiatives. Ideal candidates will be reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a dynamic office environment.

Job Description

60% - Marketing and Promotions


  • Collaborate with supervisor to design and implement both digital and physical marketing materials
  • Promote classes, events, and significant dates
  • Create content highlighting students, alumni, faculty, and program campaigns
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of all Jewish Studies events


20% - Event Support


  • Help with logistical and operational needs before, during, and after events
  • Represent Jewish Studies at college tabling events and other outreach activities


20% - Office and Administrative Support* Greet and assist visitors at the Jewish Studies office
  • Perform clerical tasks such as retrieving and sorting mail
  • Maintain office supply inventory and assist with ordering as needed
  • Help digitize and organize files, including confidential documents
  • Support maintenance and organization of the Jewish Studies library
  • Run campus errands as assigned by supervisor
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain office appearance
  • Assist faculty with office-related tasks as needed or as directed


Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in design and office software, including Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and OneDrive as indicated in application materials.


Preferred Qualifications

----------------------------


  • Enrollment and eligibility for the Federal Work-Study program preferred.


Position Requirements

-------------------------


During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

(1) Student employees are

not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.


(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
