The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Health Authority is hiring for a Social Services Program Specialist 1 located within the Division of Nevada Medicaid, Quality Assurance Provider Review Unit. This position assists with the completion of onsite reviews, desk audits, and financial reviews of Medicaid Providers of Home and Community Based Services. Incumbents will also be conducting telephone surveys with beneficiaries of Home and Community Based Services and Supports. The purpose of the position is to ensure that all federal and state quality requirements are met, that health, safety and welfare of Medicaid waiver and state plan recipients are ensured, to validate or improve the quality of long-term support systems, and that quality assurance activities result in collaborative, data driven system changes. The duties of this position require the application of state and/or federal laws, policies and procedures or guidelines in making compliance determinations. This position is located in Las Vegas, with travel required.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of paraprofessional experience which included providing social services, medical assistance programs services, or health care services to the public and required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR two years of experience as a Family Services Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
