Key Responsibilities


Contract Monitoring & Inspection


Meet with solid waste contract representatives to assess performance and compliance.


Conduct field inspections of waste services and facilities.


Track and verify compliance with service-level agreements.


Complaint & Service Response


Receive solid waste-related complaints from public offices or residents.


Investigate issues in person, documenting outcomes.


Report findings and make recommendations to the Solid Waste Manager and contractors.


Equity & Special Services


Assess and verify eligibility for service exemptions (e.g., disability).


Recommend tailored service modifications for qualified residents.


Illegal Dumping Enforcement


Investigate reports of illegal dumping.


Document incidents and report findings to management.


Code Enforcement


Educate residents and contractors on relevant city ordinances.


Enforce regulations, issue notices or citations, and ensure compliance.


Conflict Resolution & Dispute Mediation


Mediate disputes between property owners and waste contractors.


Resolve issues within established operational guidelines and policies.


Interagency Coordination


Collaborate with other city departments and external organizations to address service-related concerns.


Facilitate communication between stakeholders involved in solid waste issues.


Documentation & Reporting


Maintain comprehensive records of complaints, inspections, and enforcement actions.


Prepare reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and resolutions for leadership review.


Experience and Training: Guidelines


Any combination of experience and tramzng that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:


Experience:


Three years of responsible experience working with the public including experience in mediating and resolving public complaints.


Training:


Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.


License or Certificate:


Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
