Example of Duties and Responsibilities


  • Patient Care: Administer top-quality nursing care to patients and residents, ensuring the highest standards of practice.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct intake assessments, administer first aid and medications, and perform health screenings.
  • Care Planning: Assist in developing and evaluating individualized care plans, tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all patients, documenting changes in their condition and treatments provided.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, supervisors, and other healthcare staff to coordinate and implement effective patient care.
  • Education and Training: May provide guidance and direction to LPNs, CNAs, and other staff members. Participate in the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Administrative Duties: Enter patient information into various electronic systems, ensure adherence to healthcare policies and regulations, and communicate urgent medical needs to relevant personnel.
  • Patient Advocacy: Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring clear communication and understanding of patient care plans.


Under general supervision, performs professional work as a staff nurse. Provide nursing care to residents on the assigned unit. Direct assignments and activities of LPN’s and CNA’s and evaluate their performance on the job. Coordinate services rendered by nursing with the treatment team. Performs related duties as required. Demonstrated computer skills are required. Shift assignment is subject to change per operational need. Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position.


Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug and alcohol screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug and alcohol testing for probable cause as set forth in agency and bureau policies. This is a tobacco/smoke free campus.
