About the Opportunity


Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a full-time

Network Analyst to serve as a member of our Information Technology department. We are looking for a motivated individual who is technologically proficient, enjoys learning and is able to effectively communicate with customers, vendors and other employees. This position works as part of the team that provides the management and operation for the physical layer of the college’s network at all campuses.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond to helpdesk requests for students, faculty and staff.
  • Manage the college telecommunications systems including a centralized phone switch at TTC with 3 remote shelf systems located at AWH, the Groves campus and CAH. Manage the voicemail, automated call distribution and extension creation for all campuses, and also manage the call reporting software. Work with our Public Safety department to maintain security phones and elevator phone devices.
  • Support the administrative systems and applications such as Banner, DegreeWorks, AdAstra, Canvas, Document Imaging, Bookstore and Johnson Controls.
  • Install new computers and image existing computers for instructional and administrative users at TTC and the Groves. Instructional areas include Dental Hygiene, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geology, Machine Tool, Wind Academy, Cosmetology & Barbering, CAD, Electrical, Automotive, Library, Commons, Media Carts, mobile laptop carts.
  • Provide support for Public Safety that includes connection to Law Enforcement Information Network, fingerprinting system. Install and maintain the video surveillance system cameras and recording servers at all KVCC sites.
  • Support the account creation and ID creation for students, faculty and staff. Also support the account and ID creation process for the KRESA EFE students at the TTC campus.
  • Install, program, support and troubleshoot classroom audio/visual systems and software in the classrooms at TTC and the Groves.
  • Install, support, troubleshoot, and repair printers and copiers at TTC and the Groves Campus including their connections to network print servers and the ID system.
  • Support external rental customers at TTC and the Groves campus for connections to the Internet for meeting and training purposes.
  • Technology setup and support of internal special events.
  • Manage the intercampus communications and connection to the Internet by working with communication vendors who supply Kalamazoo Valley�s connectivity.
  • Secondary duties may include managing IT security including firewalls, Intrusion Protection, AntiVirus, Spam Filtering, ACLs, and VPN connections. Applying required server patches and firmware updates. Ensuring HIPAA, FERPA, PCI and Federal Financial Aid compliances are achieved.

Minimum Qualifications:

Appropriate education, training, and experience are requirements. An example of this would include an Associate Degree in computer information systems or a related field and one year of related work experience.


Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience in systems/network administration is preferred.
  • A Bachelor�s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Learning Management System administration and support.


Physical Demands:

Bending, stooping, and occasional moving and lifting of computer hardware up to 50 pounds.


Work Hours: Normally Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. Occasionally work scheduled maintenance periods during non-work hours (10 pm - 5 am) may be required.
