Job Summary


The Patient Care Associate (PCA) provides integral support to Anchor Health and our patients. The PCA is often the first person that patients encounter and can assist with a wide array of tasks all serving to coordinate care for our patients. The PCA always strives to promote a holistic, empathetic, and safe environment for our patients.


General Duties


  • Welcomes and greets patients or visitors to the department in a manner that is helpful and friendly.
  • Directs patients or visitors to appropriate persons or departments.
  • Answers calls in a courteous and timely manner, provides accurate information, and direct calls to appropriate staff.
  • Accurately documents all telephone encounters.
  • Assists patients with the registration process and fully registers patients in the electronic medical record.
  • Reviews and responds to staff communications using the in-basket.
  • Schedules patients in accordance with provider scheduling guidelines.
  • Contacts patients on behalf of the clinical team and reschedules appointments as directed.
  • Coordinates the disclosure of medical records in accordance with all guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA laws.
  • Confirms all patient appointments and demographics.
  • Verifies insurance, collects co-payments/balances, and obtains required documents.
  • Scans administrative and clinical documents into the electronic medical record (EMR) in accordance with guidelines.
  • Assists with daily patient flow in areas as needed.
  • Reviews incoming faxes and routes appropriately.
  • Participates in LGTBQ+ community events.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies and coordinates order list as needed.
  • Follows instructions of clinicians and assists with delegated tasks.


Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with the LGBTQ+ population and awareness of needs specific to this community group.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain a professional composure and maintain a trauma-informed space.


Preferred Requirements


  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Medical Office Experience.
  • Experience working with an EMR, specifically, Epic.
