About the Role:


The Medical Assistant - Front Office plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare services by managing patient interactions and administrative tasks at the front desk. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming and professional environment while efficiently handling scheduling, patient registration, and insurance verification. The role requires close collaboration with clinical staff to coordinate patient flow and maintain accurate medical records. By effectively managing communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, the Medical Assistant helps optimize the overall patient experience and supports the delivery of high-quality care. Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent patient service utilizing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a tem


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting performing a front office, medical assistant, or scheduling role(s).
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
  • Experience with appointment scheduling software and patient management systems.
  • Additional certifications related to healthcare administration or customer service.


Responsibilities:


  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Collect and process patient co-pays and outstanding balances, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations in all communications and record handling.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow and preparation for medical examinations.
  • Manage and update patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with insurance authorizations and billing inquiries to facilitate smooth reimbursement processes.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, faxing, and managing office supplies.

Eight hour shifts varying between the hours of 7:00 am - 6:15 PM Monday through Friday with occasional half day on Saturdays.
