The School of Art and Design is seeking a full-time faculty member in the Fashion Design Apparel Area. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned senior designer from the fashion industry with demonstrated leadership in design. Their professional experience should focus on areas that incorporate classic heritage skills, particularly within Sportswear, Special Occasion, Knitwear, Childrenswear or Menswear.
The successful candidate must have a strong ability to drape, pattern, and sew intricately designed garments. They should also be skilled in executing original designs and possess excellent design communication abilities within these specialized classifications. A comprehensive understanding of current successful fashion practices, familiarity with a range of design methodologies, awareness of market trends, and an experience with emerging technologies are essential.
This faculty member will serve the School of Art and Design and participate in administrative responsibilities as required. Teaching duties will include delivering innovative instruction in core AAS foundational courses focused on womenswear, as well as BFA specialization courses in one or more of the following areas: Sportswear, Special Occasion, Knitwear, Childrenswear or Menswear.
In addition to teaching, the faculty member will actively contribute to the development and implementation of curriculum in collaboration with departmental colleagues. They will also engage in service to the Department, School, and College through curriculum development and committee participation.
It is expected that the selected candidate will establish and/or build upon their personal areas of strength by the time they are considered for tenure. These areas may include, but are not limited to: research in sustainability or inclusive design; fashion show presentations or exhibitions; curriculum development; securing grants and proposals; cultivating industry partnerships; or producing scholarly or creative work relevant to the field of fashion design and fashion education.

The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals.
