As an Eligibility Caseworker I, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of Wake County residents by determining eligibility for Medicaid programs through the Family and Children Medicaid (FCMA) Program. This position is based within the Economic & Social Services Division and will be located at Neighbor Health Center to provide direct support to Health Center patients and community members.

You’ll assess eligibility, process applications, and ensure individuals and families receive access to vital services and resources that promote health and stability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Determine initial and/or ongoing Medicaid eligibility for residents in accordance with program rules.
  
• Conduct interviews with clients and collect necessary documentation.
  
• Enter data into NC FAST and other electronic systems to authorize benefits.
  
• Manage case actions and workflows using OnBase and other platforms.
  
• Maintain accurate records, complete daysheets, timesheets, and case action forms.
  
• Provide timely responses to client inquiries by phone, email, and in person.
  
• Collaborate with Neighbor Health Center staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  
• Process auto newborn cases and review application statuses.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school degree or GED
  
• Two years of related experience
  
• Equivalent education and experience are accepted
  

• Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.
  

• One year of experience determining eligibility for a State or County Department of Social Services program (i.e. Medicaid, Food & Nutrition Services, Energy Assistance, Childcare Subsidy, Work First, or Child Support Services); or
  
• One year of experience determining eligibility for a financial or insurance provider for financial assistance or insurance claims; or
  
• One year of experience assessing financial capabilities and the need for financial assistance (i.e., financial counseling).
  

• You�ll have knowledge of customer and personal service principles, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluating satisfaction.
  
• You�re able to apply complex policy to determine and accurately calculate client budgets.
  
• You�re proficient in using office equipment and relevant technology such as Microsoft Office, NC FAST, and electronic document management systems.
  
• You can review and assess financial information with accuracy and attention to detail.
  
• Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required.
