Executive Director


Mission Statement: The Elizabeth House Maternity Home is a nonprofit organization established for charitable, educational and sustainability purposes. We believe in the sanctity of all human life and the innate value of each person. Our goal is to provide women in crisis pregnancy and their children with safe housing and the physical, emotional and spiritual support necessary to empower them in their journey towards independence.


The Executive Director is the key management leader of The Elizabeth House Maternity Home [EHMH]. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, financial health and development, and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include marketing and communications and assisting the Board and committees. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.


General Responsibilities:


1) Board Responsibilities: Responsible to the EHMH Board to fulfill the organization’s mission.


  • Lead EHMH in a manner that supports and guides the organization�s mission as defined by the Board of Directors
  • Build a Christ-centered culture for the house consistent with the EHMH mission
  • Communicate with committees established by the Board
  • Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions (Financial reports, development and ministry updates, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Board in strategic planning and implement the approved plan to ensure the EHMH can successfully fulfill its mission into the future
  • Seek out best practices in all areas and engage in professional development


2) Financial Performance and Viability: Fiscal management of the general operations


  • Submit to the Board proposed monthly and annual budgets and financial statements which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization
  • Ensure that EHMH is operating within the approved budget, achieving maximum resource utilization, and maintaining a positive financial position


3) Financial Development: Grow resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of EHMH


  • Plan and execute fundraising events
  • Ask businesses for sponsorships towards EHMH events and promotions
  • Design new ways to gather information from potential donors
  • Design metrics to measure effectiveness of each fundraising initiative
  • Determine which volunteers and donors are most invested and ready to be asked to increase their commitment of volunteer time and funding
  • Invite donors to volunteer alongside other staff (at the house or in the community) and conduct open houses with Programs Director for donors to become better acquainted with EHMH because an engaged donor is an invested donor
  • Thank all monthly donors personally once a year (with a hand-written letter, phone call or meeting as appropriate)
  • "Touch" every monthly donor or one-time donor of $200 or more at least four times per year (Christmas letter, invitation to event, spring update, form thank you, etc.)
  • Ensure that thank you notes are sent to one-time donors within one week of their donation
  • Call monthly donors when giving drops off and re-engage them
  • Investigate employer gift-matching opportunities and educate and invite donors to participate
  • Invite board members to set up �coffees†(meetings where we tell our story) at least 2 times per year to introduce their contacts to EHMH. Follow up with these contacts quarterly as appropriate
  • Investigate grants and write proposals


4) Management of Staff: Implement employment and administrative policies and procedures and oversee the efficient and effective day to day operations of the EHMH.


  • Participate in the hiring of competent and qualified staff
  • Train and encourage staff in professional development in their area of expertise and in general
  • Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings
  • Conduct and document employee reviews
  • Support and empower employees in the fulfillment of their responsibilities


5) Operations:


  • Oversee that all paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to resident files, purchases, invoices, releases of information, daily logs, timesheets and administrative records
  • Document periodic safety checks throughout the house and grounds that are conducted by the Program Director, inform Board and /or landlord of unusual events and needed maintenance or adjustments
  • Establish and maintain relationships with organizations throughout the state and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance EHMH�s Mission


6. Marketing & Communications


  • Oversee marketing and other communication efforts to increase visibility
  • Design fundraising events and campaigns in partnership with the Board and staff so that EHMH's Program goals and Community Awareness goals are being accomplished as well as its Fundraising goals whenever possible
  • Serve as EHMH�s primary spokesperson to the organization�s supporters, the media and the general public


7. Other:


  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors


Qualifications:


  • A heart for this ministry
  • Agreement with our mission statement
  • Criminal Background Check - required prior to hiring
  • Understanding and acceptance of Christian teachings, especially regarding the life issues
  • A valid driver�s license and MVR [Motor Vehicle Registration]
  • A bachelor�s degree or preparatory job experience
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency
  • Ability to convey and communicate the vision of EHMH�s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Demonstrate ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
  • Strong public speaking ability


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
