The Emergency Response and Spill Prevention Division is seeking up to two (2) Seasonal Resource Assistants to assist with a variety of administrative duties, including, but not limited to: Managing uploads to the Division’s electronic document filing system, database entry, reviewing incoming reports; preparing documents for scanning. You will also learn about the variety of responsibilities of the Emergency Response and Spill Prevention Division which includes the Emergency Response Unit, the Corrective Action Unit, and the Licensing and Enforcement Unit. You will become knowledgeable on the various type of documents and correspondence received associate with releases that occur in Connecticut and their cleanups. Applicants should be well organized, willing to learn various database functions, and willing to work in a team setting.

The Bureau of Materials Management & Compliance Assurance (MMCA) mission is to work to ensure the proper management - handling, use, and disposal - of materials including pesticides, mercury, PCBs, and petroleum products. Through a number of different mechanisms - outreach and education, product handling efforts and phase outs, training, and regulatory activity - the Department is working to develop better stewardship of these materials to protect environmental quality and public safety for Connecticut's current and future generations.
The Corrective Action Unit (CAU) assists in fulfilling the DEEP’s critical mission of restoration, protection, and conservation of Connecticut’s water and land resources and protection of public health and safety. The CAU reviews and approves remedial strategies completed pursuant to formal and informal enforcement actions and spill responses, reviews investigation and cleanup plans, reviews fields investigations and tracks state cleanup compliance, and tracks federal polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) and leaking Underground Storage Tank (UST) grant requirements.
The Licensing and Enforcement Unit (LEU) provides compliance assistance to the regulated community and enforcement related activities, issues informal and formal enforcement actions, and conducts electronic Underground Storage Tank (UST) compliance inspections to determine compliance with regulatory requirements and related activities.
