Duties and Responsibilities

*Serve as liaison between the UHCC grant project team and community college campus(es) to coordinate outreach, recruitment and case management activities for participants in workforce training.
*Serve as the primary point of contact for the grant project with training applicants, enrolled students, industry and community partners, and the general public.
*Cultivate effective partnerships with community and industry partners for collaborative activities including advisory and sector groups, work-based learning experiences such as apprenticeships and internships, career advising, employment assistance and workforce employment outcomes.
*Develop and implement marketing and public relations strategies for outreach and recruitment of a multicultural and diverse population of adult learners, including multimedia digital and print tactics with a statewide team.
*Develop processes for referrals to campus and community-based support services with representatives from the UH Community Colleges (UHCC) and community partners.
*Support students’ access to hybrid and online courses for workforce training and provide technical support for students.
*Support development of employer engagement processes with UHCC grant project team and community college campus(es) to facilitate effective communication, participant referrals for job opportunities and attainment of employment outcomes.
  • Monitor and assist in evaluation of the demand, enrollment and completion rates for program courses.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


Education and Professional Work Experience


  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business, Education, Arts & Sciences, Social Work or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for project management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of project coordination in education, social work, case management or workforce-related programming as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with project coordination and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, and spreadsheet software.
  • If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.


Supplemental Minimum Qualifications


  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects in an effective, innovative and timely manner that involved partners from different sectors and achieved measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and coordinating effective partnerships with diverse groups of stakeholders, such as higher education administrators, faculty and students, employers, industry associations and community-based organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience with recruitment, marketing, case management and/or college and career advising in a complex, team-oriented project.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with curriculum development at the post-secondary level.
  • Ability to participate in off-campus meetings and/or travel to other islands; ability to work outside of normal work hours and may include evening, weekend, and outreach responsibilities.


Desirable Qualifications


  • Experience with the University of Hawaii systems, policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with University of Hawaii�s academic and/or continuing education programs.
  • Experience working with higher education faculty, staff and administrators.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating continuing education courses or programs in online, hybrid and face-to-face formats.
  • Experience with online learning management systems.
  • Experience developing and coordinating effective partnerships with Hawaii employers, industry associations, labor unions, and/or government agencies.
  • Knowledge of higher education student success, college and career pathways, and/or college and career advising.
