Teach professional-technical courses in the field of Early Childhood Education.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Child Development, Human Development and Family Sciences, Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field. Requires a demonstrated commitment to student-centered principles and an understanding of the community college mission. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, including faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer recent college teaching experience, working knowledge of computer software and Learning Management Systems. Experience with different modalities of instruction, including synchronous and asynchronous online learning. Knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas, Reggio-Inspired curriculum approach, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), Infant Toddler Curriculum and group care, Cultural Sensitivity, Reflective Curriculum and Loose Parts. Recent experience working in early childhood classrooms is preferred. Proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time in classroom and early learning environments. Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer, handle instructional materials, and demonstrate activities. Requires normal hearing and speaking skills to communicate with students, colleagues, and young children. Requires visual acuity to read materials, view computer screens, and observe activities. Job duties require frequent sitting, standing, and walking; occasional bending, kneeling, and lifting of light to medium weight (10-50 pounds), such as instructional materials or early learning supplies.


Work is performed indoors in classroom, office, and early learning environments, with occasional outdoor activities. Potential exposure to typical classroom and childcare noise levels, varying weather conditions, and cleaning or sanitizing supplies.

Essential Duties:

  • Teach early childhood education and development classes.


  • Prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes.


  • Assign and grade student work; report student attainment of course outcomes.


  • Keep abreast of development in subject area and educational technology, innovative teaching techniques, and continuously strive for professional improvement.


  • Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out-of-class contact with students.


  • Exemplify and promote work within the mission of LBCC.


  • Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages.


  • Promote both a classroom environment and a curriculum of equity and inclusivity.


  • Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.


  • Participate as assigned in occasional department and advisory meetings.

Salary and Compensation Information:

Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being “rolled†once per term, if eligible.* View the 25/26 Academic Year Part-Time Salary Schedule at this link.
