Provide behind-the-wheel instruction for students in the Driver Education program. Requires record-keeping and coordination with classroom instructors for student activities and Program Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:

Requires an Oregon Driver’s License and current CPR/First Aid certification. Traffic safety education that has included defensive driver training such as bus driver, police training, and/or an Oregon Department of Transportation Training certificate.

Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time while operating a motor vehicle, and to enter and exit vehicles frequently. Sufficient arm, hand, and foot dexterity to operate vehicle controls and demonstrate driving techniques. Requires normal hearing and speaking skills to communicate with staff and students in both classroom and in-vehicle settings. Requires visual acuity to read road signs, monitor traffic conditions, and observe student driving performance. Job duties require frequent sitting; occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of light to medium weight (10-50 pounds), such as training materials, traffic cones, or vehicle equipment.


Work is performed indoors in a classroom environment and outdoors in an on-road driving setting, with potential exposure to varying weather conditions, traffic hazards, and vehicle emissions.

Essential Duties:

  • Using approved course content and methods, instruct drivers in the behind-the-wheel component of the Driver Education program in one or more of the following communities: Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Sweet Home.


  • Coordinate student behind-the-wheel schedules with classroom instructors and Program Coordinator.


  • Promote a safe and effective learning environment which contributes to each student�s success.


  • Complete a visual inspection of the vehicle and report any concerns immediately to the program coordinator.


  • Maintain records as directed including student attendance.


  • Attend required continuing education conferences and/or workshops for the Driver Education program.


  • Attend department meetings as scheduled.

Salary and Compensation Information:

Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being “rolled†once per term, if eligible.* View the 25/26 Academic Year Part-Time Salary Schedule at this link.
