Job Summary/Basic Function
About the position:

The Director of Integrated Studies will manage an inclusive post-secondary program for students with intellectual disabilities. The position will lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the program, including the creation of foundational experiences, incidental learning, scheduling, and program activities. The Director supervises and evaluates the performance of the Success Coach, serves as a liaison and resource for students, parents, faculty and members of the campus community, and compiles data related to student and program outcomes. Duties include conduct the evaluations and develop a process for establishing outcome measures for individual participant success, develop and maintain the programs management and performance database, lead and direct the work of the Success Coach, advocate for inclusive opportunities, coordinate the admission and registration process, create and identify professional development opportunities for students, families and members of the campus community, maintain budget and monthly budget reports, write grants for additional funding, participate in related council, panel, and administrative meetings, participate in advisement for students, oversee volunteers, meet with project Faculty Coordinator, prepare future plans leading to program outcomes and expectations, and maintain a record of progress and achievement for all participants.

Duties and Responsibilities
Program Development & Sustainability:* Coordinate the application, admissions, and registration process in collaboration with Admissions & Registrar.
  • Provide staff support to Admissions Review Panel, Advisory Board, and other program committees assigned by faculty advisor.
  • Create and manage the program budget with Financial Manager.
  • Compile data, including student and program outcomes and training.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of Integrated Studies website.
  • Organize and inform the annual program evaluation (e.g., PASSING, relevant Accreditation Standards).


Support Students & Families:* Support students in building relationships and the creation of natural supports.
  • Serve as a liaison and resource for students, parents, faculty, and members of the campus community.
  • Collaborate with Orientation staff for new student orientation as part of matriculating student orientation.
  • Coordinate Person Centered planning (e.g., PATH for all students/families).


Capacity Building:* Take part in University Admission Events, including Open House, Admitted Student Expo, and Orientation.
  • Cultivate relationships with OVR, Supports Coordinators, AHEDD and other third party supports/resources.
  • Facilitate and be familiar with funding sources (e.g. OVR, ODP, Medicaid-Waiver).
  • Conduct ongoing outreach to schools, transition service providers, OVR, Medicaid Waiver Supports Coordinators, parents, prospective students, and other University and community members inquiring about inclusive post-secondary opportunities.
  • Collaborate with members of the campus and surrounding post-secondary education community to ensure sustainability of the program.
  • Build capacity for Integrated Studies and the development of �model†programs.
  • Engage with faculty and staff in creating/establishing best practices, and curriculum modification, to cultivate an authentic inclusive college experience (e.g. Universal Design for Learning).


Professional Development:* Actively engage in ongoing professional development related to inclusive post-secondary education (e.g., leadership, supporting students and families, succession planning, program development and evaluation, and building relationships).
  • Engage in or oversee scholarship activities.
  • Maintain membership in organizations relevant to the field and Think College.net.
  • Collaborate with The Career Center, and INST community employment initiatives (pre- and post-graduation) to support student career exploration and cultivate post-graduation employment opportunities.
  • Create and identify professional development opportunities for students, families, and members of the campus community.


Post-Graduation Success:* Engage students and families in purposeful activities related to student’s post-graduation plan (e.g., launching, employment, independence, and natural supports).
  • Create foundational experiences and provide incidental learning to ensure continuity of focus for students (e.g., PATH, academics, experiences, internships, and relationships).


Supervise Staff:* Mentor/supervise staff, volunteers, and student workers.
  • Design a mentoring process for support staff.


  • All other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
  • Master�s degree and three years of progressive experience in Social Work, Special Education, Disability Studies, Business Administration or similar program OR the equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and other disabilities at a post-secondary or secondary inclusive transition level program or similar inclusive support environment.
  • Knowledge and skills providing learning experiences that are functionally relevant and community based.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an understanding disposition toward individuals with an intellectual disability.
  • Experience working collaboratively with an academic department or inclusive secondary transition curriculum.
  • Ability to:

+ communicate and mentor program staff, including coach facilitators, educational support coaches, interns, and mentors.

+ address concerns and work toward resolution.

+ keep and maintain records.

  • Knowledge of:

+ Educational Support Coaches, Coach Facilitator, or Success Coach roles and responsibilities.

+ best practices in areas of higher education, education, special education, inclusion, and postsecondary opportunities for students with intellectual disability.

+ the University admissions and registration processes.

  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with inclusive supports for people with disabilities.
  • Prior professional work experience in a student support service in higher education.
  • Prior experience using specific systems (Banner, SAP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the fundamental principles and practices used in the field of developmental disabilities, including appropriate medical terminology and developmental programming.
