We’re supporting a leading aerospace and defense supplier in their search for a
Mechanical Engineering & Staff Director to lead their cross-functional mechanical and process engineering teams. This position is based in Poway, CA , and will oversee teams across three sites: Poway CA, Bohemia NY, and Isle of Wight UK.This is a
hands-on leadership role - ideal for someone who still enjoys technical depth but also thrives in mentoring, directing, and growing high-performing teams.- Oversee a multi-disciplinary team of Mechanical Engineers, Process Engineers, and Draftspersons
- Serve as the main technical representative in PDRs and CDRs
- Manage engineering resources and staff allocations to support active and upcoming programs
- Mentor and train team members; assist in hiring and team development
- Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines and departments
- Review and ensure completeness of drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Maintain compliance with applicable industry and company engineering standards
- Bachelor�s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years in mechanical design and engineering leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of commercial, aerospace, and military design practices
- Experience with thermal and modal analysis using SolidWorks
- Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling using SolidWorks
- Proven experience managing engineering teams, allocating resources, and mentoring staff
- Ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues in a production or development setting
