Position Title: Development Coordinator (¾-Time, 30 hours/week)


Reports To: Executive Director


Location: Brookings, SD


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly


Compensation: $29 hr


Position Summary:


The Development Coordinator is responsible for managing the organization’s grants program and maintaining accurate donor data to support fundraising efforts. This position plays a key role in sustaining and growing contributed income by coordinating grant applications and reports, maintaining donor databases, and providing administrative support for development initiatives. The Development Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the smooth execution of fundraising strategies, with an emphasis on grants management and donor stewardship.


Key Responsibilities:


Grants Management


· Research, identify, and track grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.


· Prepare and submit compelling grant proposals, LOIs, budgets, and required documentation.


· Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar to track application deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables.


· Coordinate with program staff to gather necessary data, stories, and program metrics for grant applications and reports.


· Prepare interim and final grant reports in a timely manner.


Donor Data Management


· Manage and maintain the donor database (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce, or other CRM).


· Ensure accuracy and integrity of donor records, gift entry, and reporting.


· Generate donor reports, giving summaries, and mailing lists as needed.


· Process donations and prepare acknowledgment letters and tax receipts.


· Support donor stewardship activities, including thank-you calls, donor recognition, and annual appeals.


Development Support & Administrative


  • Assist with coordinating fundraising mailings, campaigns, special events, and donor cultivation activities.
  • Prepare development materials such as donor packets, case statements, and grant attachments.
  • Support the Executive Director and Board Development Committee with meeting materials, donor prospect research, and follow-ups.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to development operations, including filing, scheduling, and correspondence.


Qualifications


· One year of demonstrated professional experience with development and fundraising


· Excellent oral, written, and public communication skills


· Experience in appropriate database management and informational technology


· Friendly, adaptable, and outgoing


· Appropriate time management skills

Pay: $29.00 per hour
