Role Description: Huitt-Zollars has a great opportunity for a full-time Construction Inspector position in our Houston West office. The candidate will work collaboratively in a team environment and will serve as the project manager’s representative during construction. The position will observe construction daily to determine if construction is being performed according to the contract documents, prepare daily reports, take daily photos, observe testing of facilities, and serve as the liaison between the Contractor and the Owner.

Education: High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management

Duties:

• Provide monitoring, oversight, and coordination of work performed by others to ensure that plans and specifications are being followed.
  
• Inspectors need to have analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and technical skills.
  
• They also need to be able to understand plans and blueprints, documents, manuals, and have basic math and computer skills.
  
• Inspector will need to have the ability to inspect work that occurs both interior and exterior spaces.
  
• The inspector will be responsible for preparing detailed daily reports that document all on-site work done for a construction project on a given day.
  
• Field inspectors need to be independent and able to work without much supervision.

• Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process.
  
• Productively collaborates with others and leads or encourages teams to achieve success and camaraderie amongst each other.
  
• Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
  
• Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
  
• Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the project team and office.
  
• Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
  
• Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish assignments.
  

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management.
  
• Must pass HZ security clearance review.
  
• Desired 3-5 years of construction inspection experience in roadway, earthwork, concrete or other heavy civil construction projects.
  
• TxDOT Inspection experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  
• The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
