Required Qualifications:
journalism, advertising, public relations, or media industry field or equivalent. Excellent verbal
and written communication skills. Demonstrated professional experience relevant working on
issues related to strategic communication, journalism, and media and information curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications:
corporate settings. Work experience in journalism to include significant regional and/or national
reporting assignments, visual editing and/or reporting skills. Work experience in strategic
communication to include management of significant communication budgets, public relations
and advertising campaigns.
Position Overview
The Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication in the College of Liberal Arts at the
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities invites nominations and applications for a part-time Curricular
Development Fellow to assist educational initiatives that support student professional development.
Specific responsibilities for the position will be negotiated with the director.
Responsibilities
The role of the fellow is to support extracurricular educational initiatives for specific programs through
administrative oversight and student engagement and mentoring in ways that align with the candidate’s
professional background.
Additional responsibilities include:
group engagement.
standard-setting.
initiative programing or engaged-learning activities
professional field through reading, participation in professional organizations, publications,
public speaking and network development within the community.
accreditation expectations.
This is a temporary, part-time position during fall semester 2025 (8/25/2025 to 1/7/2026) or spring
semester 2026 (1/8/2026-5/24/2026), or both. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but
establishes a pool of applicants should openings be available during the Academic Year 2025-2026.
Applications will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis during the academic year. This position
may be renewed, subject to satisfactory performance and available funding.
Compensation range: $2,000-$4,000 per semester dependent on experience, qualifications and project
scope.
About Hubbard School
The Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota is part of the
College of Liberal Arts and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Journalism and Mass
Communication. The Hubbard School offers majors in Strategic Communication - Advertising and Public
Relations, Professional Journalism, and Media and Information; and minors in Media and Information and
