Firm Description: Bruck Law Offices, S.C. is a fast-paced debt collection and creditor=s rights law firm established in 1988 and located in downtown Milwaukee. The firm handles small claim matters as well as civil cases. The office is technologically advanced and utilizes cutting edge legal software to facilitate the volume of cases that are filed each month. Collection paralegals and administrative assistants work closely with the attorneys to assist in effective and efficient use of the attorneys= time.
Position Description:- - Due diligence and placement review
- Appearing before small claim and civil courts in Wisconsin, dealing
with issues such as initial appearances, pre-trial conferences, motions,
scheduling conferences, hearings and trials
- Coordinating co-counsel
- Following up on pre & post judgment litigation
- Responsible for calendaring appearance dates and due dates for
motions/discovery
- Making and responding to discovery requests
- Dealing with attorneys and pro se litigants regarding settlement efforts
- Writing motions, memoranda, briefs, orders and correspondence
- Maintaining contact with clients
- Working closely with collection paralegals and admin staff
Position Requirements: Knowledge or experience in creditors’ rights / collections preferred. The right candidate will be detail oriented, highly organized, comfortable with software platforms and multi-tasking. Knowledge of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), WI Consumer Act, Bankruptcy Chapters 7 & 13, Wisconsin Section 128 proceedings preferred. Experience appearing in court, preparing motions, and mock trial are a plus.
