JOB SUMMARY
This is an advanced, independent, professional legal position that involves assisting the County Attorney in the administration of legal matters concerning Monroe County. May act as department head in the absence of the County Attorney.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* Advise County Commissioners, County Administration, and staff on legal issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Law Degree or equivalent doctoral degree. At least 20 years practicing law with at least 15 years representing a Florida local government as in-house counsel. Time spent representing a local government as outside counsel may be substituted for in-house counsel experience based upon the percentage of total work spent representing local government entities as outside counsel. Time spent as the Chief Legal Officer for a Florida local government entity shall be counted at a factor of 1.5 per year of experience.
Special Qualifications:
Member of the Florida Bar in good standing. Certification by the Florida Bar in City County and Local Government law preferred.
