REPORTS TO: Executive Director - Nash County Travel & Tourism HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Some evenings and rotating Saturdays are required. The person scheduled for Saturday will take the following Monday off.SUMMARY OF POSITIONThis position serves as a vital team member and the first point of contact for visitors, newcomers, tour groups, and tourism partners. The Administrative & Tourism Services Assistant supports the Executive Director by performing a wide range of responsibilities, including office management, visitor relations, marketing support, and tourism coordination. Duties involve regular interaction with the public, community partners, hoteliers, meeting planners, and the media.The ideal candidate is creative, customer-service oriented, highly organized, and has strong communication and multitasking skills. A knowledge of Nash County and the Rocky Mount area is essential, as is a passion for supporting local tourism and enhancing the visitor experience.


EXAMPLE OF DUTIES


Serve as the front-line contact for walk-in visitors, phone inquiries, and general tourism questionsAssist with developing and implementing marketing, sales, and event strategies aligned with the goals of Nash County Travel & TourismMaintain the organization’s visitor showroom, printed materials, displays, and restrooms to ensure a welcoming and professional appearancePrepare gift bags and welcome materials for trade shows, conferences, tournaments, and group eventsSupport planning and execution of bid proposals for events and sports tournaments in coordination with local venues, hoteliers, and stakeholdersEstablish and maintain strong relationships with restaurants, hotels, local attractions, and other tourism partnersAssist in preparing reports, presentations, and meeting materials for internal and external useHelp author or edit press releases, articles, and social media content as neededTrack visitor inquiries and partner communications in the CRM system for accurate reportingLead visitor and client service support during group and sports events to ensure an excellent experienceProvide assistance with general office functions including data entry, mailings, ordering supplies, filing, and document organizationMonitor and respond to the general email inbox and main phone lineMaintain accurate inventory of tourism brochures and printed materialsOther duties as assigned by the Executive Director to support the mission of the organization and overall team success


SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION


Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle requiredA background check and negative drug test are required prior to employment.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEPrevious experience at a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) strongly preferredBachelor’s degree in tourism, hospitality, marketing, or related field preferredMinimum of three years’ experience in tourism, sales, hospitality, or marketing required
