We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary care, with skills in animal handling and critical care. This role involves working closely with veterinarians to provide high-quality care for a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, farm animals and equines. The Veterinary Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients while also providing support to pet owners in our fast paced workplace.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as X-rays and laboratory work.
- Monitor animal patients during recovery from anesthesia or illness.
- Provide proper restraint techniques for animals during procedures.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and training.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment.
- Handle emergency situations with professionalism and efficiency.
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology and understanding of veterinary critical care practices.
- Experience in dog handling, training, and restraint techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with equine care is a plus.
- Avimark experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine love for animals.
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience will be considered.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including feeding on weekends if necessary.
