Trees Atlanta is a nonprofit community group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Since its beginnings, Trees Atlanta’s goals have been to plant new trees, conserve existing trees, replace trees lost to development and hazards, and educate the public on the many benefits of trees. Trees Atlanta has become one of the most widely-known and respected non-profits locally, as well as nationally, for their work as stewards of our urban environment. To date, Trees Atlanta has planted and cared for over 140,000 trees in metro Atlanta.

Our Urban Trees program focuses on planting and maintaining large trees (2.5†caliper and above) on public and private land within the Atlanta area, including the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum. The Urban Trees Team’s schedule adheres to two annual cycles:

Planting Season (November through March), in which the Urban Trees Supervisor leads a crew and/or supervises contractors in installing trees to plant ANSI, ISA, and Trees Atlanta standards.

Maintenance Season (April through October), which is focused on hand watering, mulching, pruning, pesticide application, and other elements of tree care for the previous season's plantings.
