Position Description:


The TS Power Plant is looking to hire an experienced operator to safely operate the plant’s processes and systems in support of operations and fuels.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform all pre-shift, preop and workplace checks and inspections as required.
  • Keep proper communications with Control Room Operator, letting him communicate status of all plant equipment.
  • Proficient in all plant systems and processes and be able to train others.
  • Be able to intelligently assist the Plant Control Room Operator in the control room.
  • Be able to troubleshoot and operate the backend equipment of the plant. Write work requests as needed.
  • Follow procedure, have full knowledge of procedures used in the plant.
  • Recognize equipment or systems operating outside of normal ranges
  • Be proficient in the operation of the plant Lock Out/Tag Out procedure. Be able to perform Lockout/Tagouts.
  • Communicate all pertinent information during shift relief.
  • Follow good housekeeping practices.


Successful candidates will train/work with various unit operations at the power plant involving the following:


  • Plant work safety systems (OSHA site)
  • State of the Art Emerson Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS) with D-EHC turbine generator controls
  • A 242-Megawatt Toshiba steam turbine generator and auxiliaries
  • Steam generating B&W boiler PRB fuel drum type and associated auxiliary equipment
  • Water pumping systems and rest of balance of plant: Condensate water and boiler feedwater systems with low pressure and high-pressure shell and tube heat exchangers etc.
  • Water treatment systems: boiler de-mineralized water system, and cooling tower and side stream water softening equipment and wastewater to the evaporation ponds

Environmental systems: Air quality control systems; SCR flue gas NOx removal, Spray Dryer Absorber (SDA) for SO2 removal, mercury removal system and Baghouse for particulate matter removal in flue gas



Qualifications:


  • Previous experience working in an industrial or plant environment required.
  • Exhibit outstanding verbal and written communication skills required.
  • The ability to work a rotating schedule of nights and days is an essential function of this role
