Hood River School District is seeking qualified applicants that hold an Oregon Teaching License for all elementary academic content areas. Qualified candidates should be passionate about supporting online instruction, working with a wide variety of students, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve district and school goals.

Duties include virtual academic support for hybrid instruction (online and in-person) of all K-5th grade HROA students, with the endorsement to teach Elementary Multiple Subjects. Additional endorsements in the areas of Reading Intervention and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) are preferred, to allow for flexible assignments within HROA. Teachers will provide instruction both in-person and virtually. HROA teachers will use digital platforms, specifically Acellus, SchoolsPLP and district interventions. Additionally, teachers must proactively seek out students who are struggling, connect with guardians, and be able to self-manage their instructional work schedule to ensure timely and thorough service to students and families. Qualified applicants must have teaching experience in traditional brick and mortar classes, working with a variety of students, be knowledgeable about Oregon State Assessments and preparations for those exams and most importantly have a passion for working with students with diverse needs.

The position of HROA K-5 Teacher is for the purpose of improving student success in academics by making daily attendance contact with students in your classes, supporting students working in approved Hood River County School District online curriculum; contributing to the development of supplemental lesson plans if needed; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. The HROA K-5 teacher coordinates with the HROA educational team to plan, implement, and monitor education programs for assigned students.

• Provides academic support during scheduled virtual and in-person learning lab hours.
  
• Create and support application and extension assignments for content areas.
  
• Collaborates with co-workers and administration for parent conferences to discuss individual student�s progress and to interpret school programs as well as discussions regarding specific student and family concerns and needs
  
• Meets the state standards for competent and ethical performance
  
• Maintains regular and consistent attendance to meet the needs of the position and the students and the expectations of the district
  

• Participates in scheduled professional development opportunities related to online learning as well as traditional building/district development trainings
  
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and Administrative Regulations
  
• Confers with colleagues, administrators, students and/or parents when necessary
  
• Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, IEP/504, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information
  
• Presents a positive teacher image to the community
  
• Collaborates with other staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems
  
• Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher�s expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
  
• Assesses student for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding students� progress, expectations, goals, etc.
  
• Assists other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum.
  
• Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.
  
• Directs instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  
• Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
  
• Monitors student activities (e.g. classroom, lunch, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  
• Prepares teaching materials and reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress.
  
• Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, district and/or school policies.
  
• Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the district

• Understanding of and ability to relate to the needs of students of different ethnic, cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds

• Knowledge of instructional theory and best practices, curriculum, state and federal education laws, regulations and policies
  
• Possess excellent time management and problem-solving skills, demonstrates inclusive practices and has a knowledge of trauma, SEL and child development
  
• Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parent, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception and accommodation field of vision.
  

• Possess endorsement in Elementary (Multiple Subjects); preference for additional endorsements in ESOL and Reading Intervention or actively pursuing appropriate teaching licensure endorsement for assignment
  
• Prefer 3-5 years teaching experience in core content
  
• Experience working in an elementary online platform (preferably Accelus) and doing in person instruction

• Hold a valid Oregon Teaching License with an Elementary Multiple Subjects endorsement, or have the ability to readily obtain needed license and endorsement(s).
