Objective


To provide overall leadership and management of the design process on designated projects in a way that enables efficient production and installation, minimizes design changes and fosters repeat business with the client. To oversee, and direct internal design and engineering staff as well as external design consultants to achieve defined objectives and to maintain long-lasting and fruitful relationships.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strong, clear and fair leadership to the design team by leading by example to create a positive and fruitful team-focused working environment.
  • Maintain a commercial outlook on project delivery with a view to protecting the clients� interests whilst fostering a winning environment for all project team members.
  • Ensure all design activities are carried out in a most efficient, cost-effective, and timely manner to meet project budgets, schedules and contractual deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project team and upper management on all topics of technical design development including dayâ€toâ€day management of tasks, strategic planning, scheduling, cost control, manpower forecasting and progress reporting.
  • Lead client meetings by means of driving agendas, discussions, and issues/solutions.
  • Lead a constant and open flow of communication with clients to instill confidence and build trust.
  • Lead client redline and comment log review and action items.
  • Lead design coordination with GCs, subcontractors, vendors, and clients in a way that helps to efficiently complete scope of work while fostering new relationships and building upon existing relationships.
  • Lead design coordination with external vendors, sub-contractors, and specialty trade partners such as Audio/Video/Lighting/Effects/Animation/Ride/Fit Out etc.
  • Lead the source, amount, and level of detail put into the design process and deliverables and assure they are appropriate for the complexity of the design and the project contractual requirements.
  • Perform constructive reviews of all designs and ensure conformance to prime contract requirements and commercial proposal commitments.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout all phases of the project by suggesting value engineering solutions whenever possible.
  • Delegate work where appropriate to more junior staff and regularly manage workload within team by working closely with Director of Design.
  • Oversee and lead regular updating of design progress trackers and reporting.
  • Lead. manage and sign off on internal Bluebeam review for each produced design.
  • Lead design and engineering process improvements in close collaboration with Engineering Manager and Director of Design.
  • Mentor and guide more junior staff and evaluate and motivate team members toward continued growth by helping to define and solve issues while implementing best practices and finding cost and time reduction ideas.
  • Carry out annual reviews, bi-weekly timecard approvals, sick leave and annual leave approvals of team members as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality Control staff to uphold all internal and external standards.
  • Collaborate closely with BIM staff to ensure spatial integration, technical coordination, and clash reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with Design Fabrication Support specialists and Technical Designers to ensure adequate level of detail is included in all drawings released for fabrication.
  • Oversee and lead facility impact coordination and necessary drawing and engineering documentation.
  • Oversee and lead drawing submittals to client, vendors, third party engineers and shop floor.
  • Oversee and lead as-built and as-installed design documentation and deliverables.
  • Lead and assist with the development and review of comprehensive scope-of-work and bid-proposal documents.
  • Lead and assist with documenting, presenting, and negotiating of design change orders and design schedule impacts.


Qualifications/Experience/ Skills and Attributes:


Required:


  • Degree holder in Architecture, Design or Engineering field, or comparable work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years� experience in technical design, production design, or architectural design position.
  • Highly proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, BIM360/Collaborate/Navisworks, Rhino and Bluebeam software.
  • Highly proficient in general computer and documentation processes.
  • Familiarity with Procore software
  • Possessing high attention to detail and being very well organized.
  • Possessing great written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and on a regular basis-verbally, in writing and through sketches, models and designs.
  • Strong interpersonal and personal skills including an ability to adapt to constant change or sense of urgency and ability to multitask while communicating and prioritizing effectively.
  • Possessing a strong work ethic and ability to maintain an even temper under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to complete tasks with accuracy, attention to detail and within budget and time constraints.
  • In depth understanding of architectural and technical fabrication drawings.
  • In depth understanding of fabrication means and methods.
  • In depth troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • In depth knowledge of general design and engineering principles
  • In depth knowledge of occupational health & safety standard requirements
  • In depth knowledge of local and international building codes
  • In depth knowledge of client specific standards and specifications


Preferred:


  • Experience in Autodesk Inventor, 3D Studio Max and Maya
  • Experience in Microsoft Projects
  • Experience in structural engineering environment
  • Experience in a lead management position, overseeing design and engineering process on design-build projects in the theme park or entertainment industry.
  • Experience in project cost control, scope management and scheduling

Working Conditions


  • Hours: 8am - 5pm (MON-FRI with Saturdays as needed)
  • This position allows hybrid remote only on an �as needed†basis and will require approval based on Business needs


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
