Overview:
The Team Lead directs the work of a group of employees on other hourly jobs and may be required to perform some of the same work as that of the group. Reports to the Shop Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Helps establish work priorities in conjunction with supervisor. Receives assignments from supervisor, then assigns and trains members of the group in safe and correct work procedures and performance required.
- Plans work to be performed by the group. Assists assigned personnel in resolving on-the-job technical problems.
- Arranges for necessary tools and supplies. Utilizes vendors� supply catalogs and training manuals as needed.
- Inspects, coordinates and records work performed by the group.
- In the case of repair and maintenance work, determines working procedures to accomplish the job.
- Refers problems involving job discipline to supervisor for handling.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Recommends to supervisor work assignments of employees in various job groups.
- May substitute for supervisor in his/her absence.
- May relieve employees in the group during breaks, lunch, etc.
- In the case of repair and maintenance functions, may keep spare parts inventory in work area, replenishing as needed from central stores.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman status or proven work experience in heavy structural welding fabrication.
- Interest in and ability to lead employees and delegate work assignments.
- Physical fitness to perform maintenance and heavy lifting assignments.
