Piper Companies is seeking a full-time Tax Officer for an established financial services company. This is a perm/FTE roleand is hybrid (3 days onsite per week) in Wilmington, DE.
Responsibilities:
Gather and manage high volumes of financial documents and tax forms through both internal systems and third-party platforms.
Serve as a key point of contact between trust administration staff and external tax professionals, coordinating timely and accurate tax-related communications.
Respond to inquiries and correspondence from the IRS and state tax authorities, conducting research and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
Support the Fiduciary Tax Director in configuring new trust accounts to ensure proper tax setup and compliance.
Oversee the review, organization, and timely filing of fiduciary income tax returns, including Forms 1041, 990/990PF, and 5227, prepared by external vendors.
Collaborate with trust officers, operations teams, and tax preparers to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate transaction reporting and account coding.
Maintain clear, organized records and contribute to process improvements within the tax function.
Participate in client and beneficiary meetings as needed to provide tax-related insights or support.
Assist with special projects and data reviews related to fiduciary tax procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor�s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Familiarity with fiduciary income tax returns and relevant IRS/state regulations.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with both internal teams and external partners.
Proficient in using web-based platforms and document management systems.
Experience in a trust, estate, or wealth management environment is a plus.
Compensation:
Annual Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 depending on experience
