The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for the following duties:


  • Schedule surgery and test for designated physicians and sites
  • Obtain precertification for applicable procedures and test according to patient insurance specifications including the assistant surgeon or physician assistant
  • Ask insurance company if the patient condition is pre-existing
  • Enter the surgery and reimbursement information in the computer system
  • Flag ?out of network insurance? information in the computer system
  • Obtain a signed ?Advanced Beneficiary Notice? (ABN) from the patient for all non-covered procedures, if not already obtained
  • Notify the patient of pending procedure/test and schedule the first post-op appointment
  • Notify the patient of any deductible and co-insurance payments that may be due and arrange for the payment to be paid prior to procedure
  • Fax H&P and consent form to appropriate facilities for surgeries
  • Assist the Site Coordinator when and wherever needed including answering the telephone or front desk duties
  • Adhere to policies of Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, OSHA, and HIPAA standards and guidelines
  • Perform strategic and tactical functions and will do whatever is required to model outstanding customer service toward out patients, clients and staff.
