Job Description


Department: Social Innovation Partnerships and Education within the Center for Careers, Life, and Service


Purpose: To support the Social Innovator in Residence research and selection process. Will also support social innovation programming in the Center for Careers, Life, and Service.


Reporting: The Social Innovation Student Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director for Social Innovation Partnerships and Education.


General Duties and Responsibilities


Students in this role will support the Social Innovator in Residence research and selection process and other social innovation programming in the Center for Careers, Life, and Service. Assists the Assistant Director for Social Innovation Partnerships and Education with researching, planning, and organizing social innovation outreach and training events.


  • Serve as a student representative on the Social Innovator in Residence selection committee.
  • Interview and research Social Innovator in Residence semi-finalists and Finalists.
  • Author objective research summaries on Social Innovator in Residence semi-finalists and


Finalists.


  • Oral presentation of research findings to Social Innovator in Residence selection committee.
  • Assist with coordination of Social Innovator in Residence workshops and events, such as advertising, tabling, participant sign-ins, presenter materials, and providing input on student training needs.
  • Assist with Map the System and/or systems thinking program student publicity, outreach, information sessions and workshops.
  • Attend regular Social Innovation Student Coordinator team meetings and trainings.

  • Desire and ability to work with social innovation leaders and to support other students through social innovation and systems thinking educational opportunities.
  • Capacity to deepen understanding of social innovation and systems thinking approaches and tools.
  • Sharp attention to details, deadlines, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to synthesize and objectively communicate complex data and concepts.
  • Ability to communicate professionally across cultural differences both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive applicant and selection process information.
  • Proficient and/or ability to become proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, Canva, PowerPoint, and social media platforms.


Qualifications


  • Entering second through fourth year of study at Grinnell College, but exceptional first year applicants will be considered.
  • Some flexibility is needed as work hours may be adjusted to include tabling or special events.
