Hi, we have a travel PCU RN opportunity in Charleston, South Carolina.


  • Shift: 3x12 Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend + holiday rotation
  • Ratio: Typically 1:3-4 at night
  • Float: Yes, within scope
  • Certs Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA only)
  • Experience: Minimum 1+ year (first-timers accepted)
  • License: SC or Compact RN license
  • Facility Type: Level I Trauma, Magnet, Teaching Hospital
  • Unit Info: 22-bed transplant PCU with intermediate care and 5 stepdown beds. Primary population includes kidney/liver/kidney-pancreas transplants, nephrology, and urology patients.
  • Charting: EPIC
  • Block schedule: Possible with manager approval.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Progressive Care Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions, ensuring their safety and comfort during their stay. This role is essential in a teaching hospital environment, where you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care. You will be responsible for monitoring patients' conditions, administering medications, and providing education to patients and their families regarding care plans and treatments.


Responsibilities


  • Assess and monitor patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall health status.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide education to patients and families on managing health conditions, including infectious disease care and memory care.
  • Utilize medical imaging systems effectively for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and protocols.
  • Assist in esthetic laser treatment procedures as necessary.
  • Support patients with disabilities by adapting care techniques to meet their unique needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and interventions.


Experience


  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required; experience in progressive or critical care preferred.
  • Familiarity with teaching hospital environments is advantageous.
  • Experience in infectious disease care, memory care, or toddler care is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical imaging systems and standards is beneficial.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills for effective patient education and teamwork are essential.
