SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: At the Lac du Flambeau Business Development Corporation, the Staff Accountant is a critical team member responsible for executing and maintaining financial activities tied to general ledger accounting. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and adherence to our established policies, procedures, and internal controls, supporting the financial strength and integrity of our organization.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

Financial Recordkeeping & Reporting


  • Maintain financial records in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely completion of all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and yearend closing processes.
  • Prepare and distribute journal entries, supporting documentation, bank reconciliations, financial reports, and budget comparison reports.
  • Assist with other accounting tasks and projects as needed.


Inventory & Account Reconciliation & Analysis


  • Reconcile all asset and liability accounts monthly.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet schedules.
  • Analyze revenue and expense transactions, ensuring accurate recording.
  • Identify, investigate, and report on financial variations, fluctuations, and deviations.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Maintain inventory records and monitor transactions.


Audit Support & Internal Controls


  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of financial audits.
  • Document procedures and maintain internal accounting standards.
  • Review accounts payable, payroll, and daily sales reconciliations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Associate�s degree in accounting or related field
  • 1 year of experience in accounting or other related financial support role
  • Combination of experience and education considered in lieu of requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time, non-exempt position with 40 hours per week expected. Days and hours of work are primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00a to 4:30p. However, evening and weekend hours are required as job duties demand.
