Slickline Operator

Plans, organizes, and conducts slickline and Swab operations on company owned wells. May also supervise and/or work on small construction projects. May assist Field Operators to monitor wells. Helps maintain a safe work environment for the company. Will be responsible for the maintenance of the assigned slickline truck. Must maintain all HEC requirements for daily, weekly, and monthly inspections.

Essential Job Responsibilities:* The Slickline Operator has a thorough understanding of wireline operations including downhole and surface tools, pumps, power pack, pressure control equipment, wellheads, etc.

• Rigs up lubricator, tool strings, and pumps, for a safe and efficient operation.
  
• Maintains and inspects equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear and makes or recommends appropriate repairs.
  
• Procures necessary materials and supplies to complete daily tasks.
  
• Able to unload gas wells via swab, set and retrieve plugs, cut paraffin, make tag runs, run bottom hole pressure tools, fish out wireline tools, bail fill, broach out scale, etc.
  
• Able to run wireline operations on workover or drilling rigs as needed.
  
• Communicates effectively with foremen, wellsite supervisors, and engineers.
  
• Operates pumps and mobile telephone/radio.
  
• Monitors wells as necessary and records pressures, rate, and fluid samples.
  
• Ensures wireline truck & crane operates safely and in an environmentally friendly manner. Candidate will run a Hilcorp owned truck.
  
• Completes daily reports and sends them in to Houston office. Implements company�s �Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan†(SPCC), as needed.
  
• Implements and adheres to all company safety policies and procedures and adheres to company�s �Good House-Keeping Rules.â€
  
• Reports leaks or defective valves and equipment to foremen or engineer.
  
• Tightens connections with wrenches, and greases and oils valves using grease gum and oilcan. Supervises minor construction jobs which may include making lifts with the crane located on the lift boat.

• Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
  
• Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

Qualifications:* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a slickline/wireline operator.

• Preferred: Previous Hilcorp contractor experience
  
• Preferred: Swabbing experience
  
• Ability to work established work schedule.
  
• Ability to work unsupervised while performing essential job responsibilities.
  
• Demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding production facilities.
  
• Anticipates potential problems that may occur during wireline operations and plans operations accordingly.
  
• Demonstrates the ability to operate a wireline unit and associated equipment unsupervised, while maintaining the equipment in a safe, environmentally sound condition while maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations.
  
• Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of and train other employees of lower rank and/or experience.
  
• Demonstrates the ability and willingness to remain aware of and direct the whole scope of simultaneous activities at the job site on a routine basis.
  
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist on a well, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.
  
• Basic mathematic and mechanical skills.

Education Requirements:* Preferred: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:* Class B CDL Required.
