The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Assistant Superintendent 1 at Rock Cut State Park for The Office of Land Management. This position will provide guidance and training to assigned staff, mow grass, trim shrubs, conduct and supervise trail and dock maintenance, conduct road, building, and roof repair, operate boats, snowmobiles, vehicles and other equipment to assist site visitors requiring assistance and to perform maintenance tasks. Rock Cut's 3,254 acres include two lakes: Pierce Lake, with 162 acres, and Olson Lake with 50 acres offer a retreat for people wanting to fish, ice fish or ice skate. The park's hiking trails, horseback riding trails and cross-country skiing and wildlife watching, as well as seasonal hunting programs, make it a year round recreation destination. - Under general supervision, coordinates the camping program at Rock Cut State Park.
- Directs and participates in site and facility maintenance and equipment repair.
- Assists the Site Superintendent in the preparation of annual and seasonal plans of work.
- Serves as a working supervisor.
- Participates and supervises the activities of the subordinate staff engaged in inspecting site and satellites for safety hazards such as flooding, downed trees, malfunctioning maintenance equipment, damaged day use equipment, and facilities.
- Monitors and directs site staff in organizing and running outdoor recreational programs including Natural Resource programs to include hunting, camping, fishing, equestrian riding, and wildlife observation.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

- Requires education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree with courses in parks and recreation, natural resource administration or public administration and one year's related functional supervisory experience.

- One (1) year of working knowledge of the principles and practices of site administration, including site interpretation, natural and/or cultural resource conservation, structural and grounds maintenance, public relations, personnel administration and fiscal management.
- Two (2) years of experience in problem solving situations encountered in the performance of the duties and responsibilities.
- One (1) year of experience assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of subordinate employees.
