Shipping/Receiving Specialist

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-driven Shipping & Receiving Specialist to lead the coordination of incoming and outgoing materials. This is a key role in our production process that requires accuracy, organization, and initiative. You’ll handle shipping paperwork, packaging, scheduling pickups, and receiving goods into inventory-all while ensuring accurate part counts and data entry.

You will also inspect incoming parts for accuracy using engineering prints and basic measurement tools and processes. Additionally, this role includes transferring received goods to their correct internal locations and pulling parts from inventory to supply our cutting and assembly departments. As part of a small, collaborative team, you may occasionally float to support other production areas based on workload and priorities.

Responsibilities

Shipping & Receiving

• Prepare and package products for parcel, courier, LTL, and FTL shipments
  
• Create accurate shipping paperwork and schedule pickups
  
• Receive incoming materials, verify part numbers and quantities
  
• Perform basic quality inspections on incoming parts using engineering prints and standard measurement tools (e.g., calipers, tape measures)
  
• Accurately enter received parts into inventory system
  
• Transfer received materials to appropriate storage or work areas
  
• Organize and maintain the shipping/receiving area
  

Inventory Control & Production Support

• Pull and stage parts from inventory to support machining and assembly operations
  
• Place received items in proper inventory locations
  
• Assist with physical inventory counts and adjustments
  
• Provide backup support to other departments (assembly, machining, etc.) as needed
  
• Proactively stay busy and assist wherever needed in production flow
  

General Duties

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  
• Look for ways to improve efficiency and accuracy across processes
  

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
  
• 5-7 years of shipping/receiving experience in a manufacturing environment
  
• Familiarity with parcel, courier, LTL, and FTL logistics, terminology, and processes
  
• Experience generating shipping paperwork and using shipping software
  
• Experience reading engineering prints and using basic measurement tools (calipers, rulers, tape measures) for inspection
  
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately manage part numbers and inventory counts
  
• Ability to plan and triage daily tasks to meet deadlines and support the broader production team
  
• Forklift operation experience
  
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks
  
• Must reside in the Twin Cities metro area
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift certification
  
• Experience supporting multiple departments in a small manufacturing team
  
• Familiarity with manufacturing software or ERP systems
  
• Knowledge of continuous improvement and quality management systems and processes
