We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring a seamless service experience by accurately documenting service requests and communicating effectively with both customers and technicians. This role is crucial in maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction while supporting the operational efficiency of our automotive service department.


We are looking to add Saturday hours in the near future, so flexibility when Saturday hours start is key. Likely work 2 weekends a month.

Duties


  • Greet customers and assess their service needs, providing exceptional customer service throughout the process.
  • Document customer concerns and vehicle issues accurately to relay information to service technicians.
  • Prepare detailed service estimates by utilizing knowledge in automotive diagnostics, auto estimating, and repair processes.
  • Coordinate with service technicians to ensure timely completion of services and repairs.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers regarding the status of their vehicles, including any changes in service needs or costs.
  • Manage paperwork related to service orders, including invoices and warranty claims.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels for parts and supplies necessary for repairs and services.
  • Stay updated on automotive repair techniques, technologies, and best practices to provide informed recommendations to customers.


Requirements


  • Previous experience in a service writing role or similar position within the automotive industry is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of automotive repair processes, including auto body repair, tire service, air brake systems, and general automotive diagnostics.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems for documenting services and managing customer information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of service technicians while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • A background as a service technician or experience in automotive repair is a plus but not mandatory.
