Sensor Fusion & Navigation Engineer


  • The selected individual(s) will be expected to work on broad assignments independently while reporting to engineering and program leadership.
  • Understand the fundamentals of aided inertial navigation at a deep theoretical and practical level and utilize that knowledge to design, implement, simulate, test and validate core navigation algorithms.
  • The role(s) will include responsibilities for requirements determination, trade studies, models & simulations, algorithm designs, embedded deployments & performance analyses related to navigation products in the markets of interest.


Skills & Responsibilities (cohesive subsets of the following are needed)


Navigation & Localization


  • Development of state of art Estimation & Sensor Fusion algorithms as related to our various Navigation & Localization use cases.
  • Relevant techniques include variations within families of Kalman & Bayesian Non- Linear Filters, Factor Graph Optimizations, ML & AI techniques.
  • Staying current with evolving techniques & algorithms as well as the expertise needed to migrate these into simulations, analyses and embedded platforms.
  • Develop and maintain our suite of analyses capabilities including Monte Carlo Simulations & Covariance Analyses


Model Based Workflows


  • Work within and expand our Model Based Design & Systems Engineering workflow especially via the MathWorks toolchain
  • Auto code generation and the targeting of various embedded platforms - Xilinx Zynq MPSoC, ARM cores, FPGA.
  • Software, Processor & H/W in Loop exercises.
  • System Architecture, Requirements tracing, Veriï¬cation & Validation.


Sensors


  • GPS/GNSS - signal processing, software deï¬ned radios Computer Vision as related to navigation & localization applications
  • Inertial Sensors - Ring Laser Gyros, Fiber Optic Gyros, MEMS
  • Chip Scale Atomic Clocks
  • Full system investigations via simulations, desktop analyses and vehicle / platform tests.
  • Travel: ~10% for customer reviews and meetings


Relevant Tool Proï¬ciencies


  • MathWorks toolchain - Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow; Toolboxes & Blocksets
  • Modeling & Simulation, Analyses Test, Veriï¬cation & Validation
  • Code Generation, Software, Processor & H/W in Loop C/C++, Object Oriented Methods, UML, Python
  • Familiarity with Industry Trends
  • Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) open standard, pntOS


Education & Experience


Background in:


  • Aerospace GNC, Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles & Air Mobility, GNSS, Inertial Sensors, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Applied Mathematics Fields
  • Role(s) will be commensurate experience: PhD. or Masters with 5 years of experience or Bachelor's with 8 years' experience in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., visa sponsorship not available.


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is

$120,000 - $170,000 annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
