The Security Observer works to facilitate safe and healthy interactions between children and their parents by promoting the safety and wellbeing of program participants during visits and exchanges, as well as maintaining documentation. A Security Observer is a member of the Parenting Time Center Team, participates in staff meetings, and in on-going training.
- Observe and document supervised visits and monitored exchanges
- Intervene in child-parent interactions as necessary to maintain safety and standards
- Perform security screenings for visiting parents and routine building/parking lot checks
- Coordinate emergency response to safety threats and incidents
- Collaborate with PTC Coordinator and team members to identify and mitigate security risks, to prevent conflict escalation, and address/respond to barriers in client participation
- Understand and maintain client confidentiality at all times
- Assist with other duties as assigned
- Proficient communication, listening, and observation skills
- Ability to recognize, define, and calm safety threats
- Ability to discern between objective and subjective statements
- Ability to maintain self-care while dealing with secondary trauma
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs and sit hours at a time
- Experience in conflict management, security, or law enforcement
- Speak conversational Spanish or other foreign language
This position currently works Friday Evenings 3:30 pm - 8:15 pm and Saturdays 9:30 am - 4:15 pm. Preference for candidates who are able to fill in for other shifts occasionally as needed.
