To that end, and in accordance with the
Core Competencies for Marriage and Family Therapists as developed by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), practicum will emphasize the development of skills associated with the six Core Competency Domains: (1) Admission to Treatment , (2) Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis , (3) Treatment Planning and Case Management , (4) Therapeutic Interventions , and (5) Legal Issues, Ethics, and Standards , and (6) Understanding and Respect for Cultural Diversity . In addition, as a faculty, we have added (7) Supervision and Self of the Therapist . The first 6 competencies are those identified as essential areas by the AAMFT Regulatory Board. These areas are included on the MFT national licensure examination. ( http://www.AAMFTRB.org ).The Winter 2026 Semester class will be held once a week from 2:00-4:50pm on Mondays.
