Position Overview

The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a School Nurse for Field Elementary School. This is full-time position, reporting to the Director of Health Services and the Field School Principal. About the Weston Public Schools

The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 167 students (K-12).


Key Responsibilities* Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to students and staff
  • Administer medication and medically prescribed treatments
  • Properly document student and staff encounters
  • Respond to special situations as they arise, in collaboration with the Director of Health Services
  • Promote positive safety procedures, and ensures the school has a medical emergency plan that is communicated to key school personnel
  • Responsible for responding to emergency situations
  • Other duties as assigned


Desired Qualifications* Must have a valid license to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from a college or university program in nursing accredited by the National League for Nursing recommended. Bachelor's degree in a related field may be acceptable if all other requirements are met.
  • School Nurse license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Certified in CPR for healthcare professionals through a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association)
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience in school nursing, community health, or child health
  • Recent emergency management in an acute care setting preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic medical record systems
  • Completion of an orientation program based on the requirements for delivery of school health services as defined by the Department of Public Health


Compensation and Benefits

This is a school-year role, represented by the Weston Education Association, and entitled to the same salary schedule as teachers and other professional staff. Additionally, the Weston Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
