Title: Academic Specialist

Description: This position in Services for Academic Success is responsible for providing guidance to eligible students including the required and permissible services of the TRIO SSS grant. These include advice is post­ secondary course selection, academic success strategies (including tutoring assistance), career guidance, professional mentorship, financial aid assistance as well as financial literacy education. This is a federally funded program which provides these services to approximately 250 students who are income-eligible, or a first-generation college student or have a learning, physical or emotional disability. This position is part­ time (25 hours per week) for a l 0-month period and is contingent upon federal funds. This position's contract will end on May 3l, 2026.


Duties and Qualities: Duties


  • Maintain a caseload of approximately 25 new students including database entry.
  • Arrange weekly meetings ·with incoming students who complete the intake process.
  • Provide engaging activities for program participants.
  • Develop and implement at least 3 program workshops per semester that meet required and permissible services of the project.
  • Utilize social media to increase awareness of programming.

Qualifications: Required


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent computer skills and database management
  • Familiarity with social media platforms


Preferred


  • Master's degree with an emphasis in education or counseling
  • Backgrounds similar to those of TRIO participants
