ABOUT THIS POSITION

The City of Phoenix Arts and Culture Department champions, promotes, and supports the City's arts and culture community to make Phoenix a great place to live, work, and visit. The department manages an award-winning public art program, grants funds to artists and nonprofit arts organizations, oversees a dozen cultural facilities, promotes arts learning for youth, provides professional development opportunities and participates in national studies and research that demonstrates the economic, social, practical, and educational benefits of the arts.


The Department is currently seeking a part-time Repository Aide, to support the daily operation of S'edav Va'aki Museum's collections section in the archaeological repository. Primary duties will focus on clerical work related to the archaeological repository, as well as assisting with artifact photography, data entry, housekeeping in collections, and integrated pest management. Instructions are provided with each new assignment; employees are expected to have excellent attention to detail and to exercise independent judgement in the completion of assigned tasks. As a member of the museum's collections staff, work is performed under the general supervision of the Collections Assistant.


This assignment will be in effect through

August 2026 at which time, the prior incumbent may return to the position. When this assignment ends, if the selected candidate is an internal candidate the temporary candidate will return to their previous position. SALARY

Pay rate: $20.51 per hour.


Pay Range Explanation:


  • Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
  • Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

--------------------------


  • One year of experience in archaeological or museum work.
  • College course work in archaeology, anthropology or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

----------------------------


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:


  • Experience using a museum's collections management database.
  • Experience with artifact photography.
  • Experience with a museum's integrated pest management program.
  • Experience in archaeological excavation and survey.
  • Experience working with southwestern archaeological collections.
  • Experience in an archaeological repository, or in the collections area of a museum.
  • Ability to move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • A bachelor's degree in anthropology, history, or a related field.
