Job Overview:


Generally expected to work as a valued member of the XL Specialized Trailers team. Assures quality product by conducting functional inspections; evaluating finished product for quality, safety and reliability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Evaluates finished product for functionality, reliability, quality, and safety by testing the capability of new and refurbished products; prep units for loading; conduct road test at highway speed; operate parts and components; gathering pertinent data; evaluating options; recommending a course of action.


Determines acceptability of rework by conducting inspection and physical tests of reworked product.


Ensures operation of stored customer trailers by completing preventive maintenance required on motors, pneumatic, hydraulics, electrical systems evaluating for functionality.


Documents finished product status by recording in-process, and finished-product inspection and physical test data; updating quality assurance data base.


Maintains product quality documentation system by writing or rewriting quality assurance procedures.


Maintains quality assurance operations by following quality assurance policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.


Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Wears proper personal protective equipment.


Identifies and anticipates safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions.


Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Ancillary Duties:


Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall operations of the XL Specialized Trailers.

Works under general supervision. The employee is responsible for planning and carrying out the assignment, keeping the supervisor informed of progress and potential problems or future implications.

Education and Experience:


  • Commercial driver's license and insurability required.
  • Experience in transporting heavy haul trailers.

Physical Demands:


  • Extended periods of standing and walking.
  • Repeated bending and stooping.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs; working at heights up to twelve feet.

  • Ability to routinely lift 20 lbs. and occasionally up to 50lbs.


Work Environment:


Work is primarily performed outdoors.
