POSITION SUMMARY


The Clinical Coordinator performs supervisory duties for all nursing staff while assisting in providing medical care to patients of various ages according to KVHC Policy and in accordance with Nursing Professional Standards. The Clinical Coordinator will work as part of the Clinical Care Team to insure effective and quality care is given to the KVHC patient.


RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Demonstrates ability to perform nursing duties as outlined in the Nursing Skills check list.


2. Assists the medical staff in providing medical care to patients in the health center setting.


3. Supervises all nursing staff and manages the work flow and floor schedule for the clinical staff.


4. Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.


5. Works in conjunction with the Purchasing and Inventory agent on medical supply ordering and inventory.


6. Maintains patient confidentiality by monitoring confidential information processes.


7. Provides instructions to patients on procedures.


8. Provides support for the utilization of the EHR.


9. Document and facilitate patient complaints as applicable.


10. Responsible for triage and bucket monitoring as needed.


11. Completes quarterly Risk Assessments for assigned health center.


12. Responsible to assure daily completion of the daily task checklist and daily huddles.


13. Participate and lead staff meetings.


14. Monitors the employee call in line and is responsible to assure coverage for employee gaps in the schedule.


15. Maintains the laboratory and laboratory equipment in good order; provides appropriate guidance in maintenance of proper temperature in refrigerator and freezer.


16. Oversees the laboratory quality control procedures and insures appropriate adherence to established CLIA guidelines.


17. Maintains nursing guidelines by providing input to the Nurse Manager in updating policies and protocols.


18. Monitors the maintenance of all medication supplies including outdates and drug closet log management.


19. Maintains adequate nursing staff by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results, and participates in nursing staff evaluations.


20. Protects patients and clinical staff by enforcing infection control guidelines.


21. Participate in the Care Team as outlined in Team Approach to Care Protocol.


22. Adheres to all KVHC policies and protocols.


23. Complies with all safety rules and protocols. Reports all incidents, regardless of severity, immediately to their supervisor and completes an incident report and investigation form, which will be forwarded to Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident.


24. Other Duties as assigned by the Clinical Practice Director.


25. Conducts themselves as a good steward in the communities served by KVHC; represents the organization at outreach activities as needed.


26. Actively participates as committee member as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.


27. Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others. Focusing on the attainment of organization goals and objectives through a commitment to team work.


28. Conforms to acceptable attendance and punctuality standards as expressed in the employee handbook.


29. Abides by the organization’s compliance program and requirements
