The Return Utah program is a formal career reentry program, designated for Utahns desiring to re-enter the workforce after a career break. Along with a state job and traditional on-the-job training, Return Utah roles provide 16-weeks of transitional support (similar to an internship) which includes an office technology review, coaching, career development, mentorship, networking opportunities and job market readiness training. This is a long term position, meaning employment continues after transitional support provided during the first 16 weeks of employment, after the completion of the Return Utah program.


Career break reasoning is irrelevant to hire. Program participants have taken career breaks for varied reasons including childcare, chronic illness, caring for a family member, educational pursuits, retirement, military service, volunteerism, entrepreneurship, political office, travel, etc.

The Division


The Division of Purchasing and General Services is the key player in ensuring state executive agencies comply with open and fair competitive procurement requirements. The Division manages over 1,000 cooperative contracts for goods and services used by state agencies, local governments, and educational entities across the State. Cooperative contracting brings together the buying power of all government entities resulting in lower prices through volume discounts, higher quality goods and services, and stronger contract terms and conditions.

Responsibilities

As the Business Analyst, your duties will include:


  • Using Microsoft Excel to analyze large set of Statewide Contract data which includes sorting and filtering, Data Validation, VLOOKUP, PivotTables and PivotCharts.
  • Develop and generate reports to identify relevant KPIs through dashboards and data-tracking reporting tools.
  • Conveying information from data analytics to targeted audiences using strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure relevant details are shared with the right stakeholders.
  • Analysis of procurement-related data, including market research, sales figures, industry indices, pricing catalogs, etc to project cost savings, assess business performance, etc.
  • Oversight for data accuracy in the Division�s systems.
  • Administrator for the Division�s customer relationship management software (�CRMâ€).
  • Currently, the Division uses Salesforce; other CRM platforms that may be used in the future include Microsoft Power Platform and ServiceNow.
  • Coordinates data between multiple systems, including connecting data sources for comprehensive reporting and visualization.


Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing data from various systems for accuracy.
  • Intermediate or Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and the desire to learn and work in that application frequently.
  • Experience in computer system administration, preferably in ServiceNow or similar CRM software.
  • Experience using Excel, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or a similar solution to transform data into visual reports and dashboards.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience and understanding of public procurement processes.
