Resource Registered Nurse Position Summary


The Resource Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care within the designated department and coordinates care planning with interdisciplinary teams. The RN delivers care that addresses the psychosocial, physical, and overall aspects of patient needs. Care priorities are established based on the patients' physiological and psychosocial requirements, as well as factors influencing patient flow throughout the healthcare system. Effective communication with physicians regarding changes in a patient's status, symptomatology, and diagnostic study results is essential. The RN must respond promptly and accurately to changes in patients' conditions or responses to treatment.


Essential Functions


  • Conduct comprehensive head-to-toe assessments for all patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and general populations, and perform reassessments in accordance with policy.
  • Assess and reassess pain effectively, applying appropriate pain management techniques while educating patients and families about pain management options.
  • Revise the plan of care according to the patient�s response to treatment and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the care plan on a daily basis.
  • Execute patient care responsibilities with consideration for the specific standards of care pertinent to each patient�s age.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their correct administration, tailored to the patient�s age and clinical condition, while adhering to the six rights of medication administration to minimize errors.
  • Develop a teaching plan based on identified learning needs, evaluating its effectiveness, while ensuring family involvement as appropriate.
  • Assist physicians during procedures and perform technical and manual skills as required by the role.
  • Provide treatments and services in accordance with licensure levels.
  • Exhibit knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identify arrhythmias, and implement appropriate interventions based on Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) protocols.
  • Monitor the hemodynamic status of patients and accurately interpret the results.
  • Formulate individualized plans of care, revising them based on the patient�s responses and assessing the overall effectiveness of the plan daily.
  • Provide care to patients with compromised nutritional or metabolic status and those requiring extensive fluid and electrolyte management.
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians.
  • Engage other departments as needed to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to addressing patient needs.
  • Assist physicians in procedures within both the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and other departments.
  • Exhibit flexibility, organizational skills, and maintain effective performance under stressful conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
  • Willingness to float to various departments as necessary; this is a float position.
  • High proficiency in both Emergency Department (ED) and Medical/Surgical Progressive Care Unit (MS/PCU) is required.
  • Experience in MS, ED, and PCU/MS settings is essential.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in rural or small facility environments.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for this position.
  • ACLS certification is required, and PALS or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification must be obtained within six months of hire.

State License Requirements


  • Must hold a valid nursing license for New Hampshire; a compact license is permitted.
